Tokyo, a dynamic city of contrasts, shifts between serene and the maximalist approach to street style. As we explored the city with open eyes, that specific dichotomy appeared continuously, informing our inspiration for Winter 2018.
Americana turned up continuously in Tokyo, from the stores to the street. The idea is carried through a whimsical take on a cozy patchwork Fair Isle along with the perfect chunky sweater, skinny wrap neck scarf and a voluminous V-neck, all pairing back to denim perfectly.
In keeping with the Japanese reverence for nature, the Winter 2018 palette pulls from the sun cycle. Color flows from cool early dawn tones to warm earthy shades with a hint of sparkle. Deep shades of rich mulberry, aubergine and burnt bronze yarns call up images of iconic sunsets.
Bold forms and volumes inspired new proportions—kimono sleeves, strong shoulders, nipped-in waists.
Eastern minimalism meant elevating simple shapes with clean finishes and attention to detail.
